Should the school day start later so that teens can sleep in? – Essential Kids – April 2014


Sophie Brown is exhausted. “My school day starts at 8.45am and I find it really hard to get out of bed,” says the fourteen year old. “It’s hard to pay attention and focus.”

Sophie thinks it would be a good idea if the school day started a bit later so that she could get a little more sleep and “wake up properly”. Although this seems like teenage wishful thinking, sleep experts agree that it’s a good idea.
