I was 11-years-old when the hairs under my arms began to grow. My body was changing, I had already started wearing a training bra and, although I didn’t know it at the time, my first period was just around the corner.

My mother noticed I was changing too and worried I would be teased about my maturing body. I was hitting puberty earlier than my peers and, as we all know, kids can be unkind when it comes to being different.
