I wasn’t prepared for the social isolation of becoming a mother – Daily Life – November 2017

According to new research from the UK’s Action for Children, the majority of parents feel cut off from friends, family and colleagues after the birth of a child. This won’t come as a surprise to those of us who’ve been there.

I found the early days (or “early daze” as some like to say) incredibly isolating. I was besotted with my baby, but somehow in birthing her I had morphed into “mother” and ceased to be me.
