When your child is ‘gender creative’ – Essential Kids – March 2014


Lilly Thomson* was just three and a half years old when she first told her mother that she wanted to be a boy. “At first I was a bit worried,” says Claire*, Lilly’s mother. “She was so passionate about her desire to be a boy. I wondered if I had a gender issue on my hands – like the ones I’ve seen on Oprah.”

Thomson decided that the best course of action was to “respect Lilly’s choices”.
