Why is it taboo for women to breastfeed each other’s babies? – Daily Life – March 2015


My sister and I shared a lot as we grew up; toys, clothes, friends and experiences. When we became mothers within three months of each other, we shared that too. The agony and ecstasy of early motherhood and all that it entailed.

On one occasion, I even shared my breast milk. My sister had been delayed, and my nephew who had been sleeping soundly was fussing and looking for milk. After a hasty telephone conversation it was agreed that I would express some milk and feed it to him in a bottle.
